Shri Guruji Purskar Awards
SHRI GURUJI PURSKAR [AWARD]
Shri Madhav Sadasvhiv Golwalakar alias Hon. Shri Guruji was the second “Sarsanghchalak” of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS). He gave his whole and soul for the service of the motherland. All his life he followed the slogan “Mai nahi, tu hi” (You and only you, not me). His reflections regarding the enhancement of various aspects of nationalism serve as guiding principles for the youth of the nation. His speeches inspired thousands of Swayamsevaks to work selflessly and whole-heartedly for the creation and growth of an ideal nation.
Jankalyan Samiti commemorates the birth anniversary of Hon. Shri Guruji by giving a national award in his honour. The award is given to individuals or organizations for outstanding achievements in 10 selected areas like Service oriented, Literature, Bravery, Agriculture, Research, Social Awareness, Sports, Arts, Religion & Culture, Women’s empowerment and Environment.
The award consists of a certificate of honour, a memento and Rs. 1,00,000.0 cash. Two candidates working in two different areas are selected for the award each year. The award function is held in different parts of the state of Maharashtra. The award function takes place on Shuddha Ekadashi in the month of Magh every year.
Some of the awardees till date are institutions like Vivekananda Kendra at Kanyakumari, Panun Kashmir, India Policy Centre Chennai, and talented individuals like Sudhir Phadke, Vijay Bhatkar, Raghunath Mashelkar, S.L. Bhairappa, Babasaheb Purandare, Lieutenant General Shekatkar, Mary Kom, Vishvanathan Anand and Acharya Kishorji Vyas.
