SWAMI VIVEKANAND YUVA PURASKAR

One of the most influential person of modern India, Swami Vivekananda was instrumental in introducing the Indian philosophy of Vedanta to the western world. The monk, who helped Hinduism in gaining the global status in the 19th century, remains the ideal role model and an inspiration to millions of youth, who follow him. Swami Vivekananda always believed that “They alone live, who live for others.”

Since 1985, India annually observes the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda (January 12) as 'National Youth Day'. The objective behind this celebration is to imbibe in students and youth the philosophy and ideals of Swamiji.

 

Jankalyan Samiti commemorates the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand by giving a state level award in his honour. The award is given to youth of the society for their outstanding achievements in some selected areas like Medical, Yoga, Agriculture, etc. in early age of their life.

The award consists of a memento and an amount of Rs. 40,000 cash.


Dr. Rajendra Dhamane & Dr. Mrs. Sucheta R. Dhamane of Mauli Seva Pratishthan were awarded 2016’s SWAMI VIVEKANAND YUVA PURASKAR. Mauli Seva Pratishthan runs Indradhanu Project. It is unique concept, they provide lifelong care and home, for homeless, mentally ill, female destitutes (and their children). This Project is located on at village Shingve Naik, in Ahmednagar. Beyond mentally ill women, women who are bed ridden and suffering from complex physical illness too are taken care at “MAULI”. Dr. Rajendra Dhamane & Dr. Mrs. Sucheta R. Dhamane believe in Swami Vivekanand’s teaching that; “service to humanity is service to god.”
